"It was feast for the senses to design the interiors and select the textures, colours & finishes for the entire resort inside & out at the recently refurbished Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort in Merrijig (Mt Buller, Vic). Located in the highlands where “the man from snowy river” was filmed, the surrounding property grounds of stoney rivers & rolling plains were the source of inspiration for all the selections made for this massive refurbishment across the entire resort.
We took on board the authenticity to the location with a modern twist. Lush cow hides rugs, sheepskin throws, goat hair stools and reindeer hide scatter cushions were just a few of the elements thrown in to the mix to bring the scheme to life. Sensational split log privacy walls, rustic laser cut metal decorative screens and huge picket fence style pendant lights hanging in the 3-story atrium also add enormous character to the space.
The carpet was a key link to alpine life in all areas. We started with a “snowflake” like emblem in the typical suites and chalets which then lead to the “cable knit jumper” in the atrium. The restaurant and bar have a fantastic “lumber jack flanno” blue and chocolate tartan and the conference rooms has a “grandmas’ doily” design. Antique mountain memorabilia was flown in from all parts of the world for door signage and wall decoration and custom printed wallpapers have provided brilliant eye catching back drops to various locations both within the typical suites and the public spaces.
