We were following in the footsteps of a dream created by the late Brian and Kathy Ray, extraordinary developers who were responsible for the Bale Port Douglas resort before their tragic and unexpected death.
In conjunction with architects and the building team, In Design International joined the project to ensure their legacy lived on. Already strongly influenced by a Balinese theme, we imported art and artefacts from Bali to apply our finishing touches to the scheme and ensure continuity and completion. Construction materials were also authentic with hammered bluestone tiled walls in reception and merbau timber featured throughout the restaurant, bar, spa and pool areas. We also custom designed all the teak joinery, day beds and restaurant furniture, in conjunction with Furn-Niche who orchestrated the off-shore manufacturing. A delightful and soothing resort experience to be proud of.
