Once we hear from you we will book in a no obligation "Discovery Call". During this call we’ll discuss your needs, goals, ideas, project budget and time frame. We’ll talk about the results our services provide and how we can work together to create a home or space you’ll love. If we decide to work together after this conversation we’ll set up a design consultation.
Prior to our design consultation you’ll receive our questionnaire which provides us information about your design preferences and desires. The design consult is a working meeting that allows us to get to know each other more and explore your home or space, as well as offer solutions to current design challenges. From there we’ll establish a scope of work for your project and the design services needed to complete your project.

Projects vary but using the full design service of a medium size home as an example, you can expect the design process to take about 6-8 weeks from the initial consultation meeting to the final design presentation. A full design package will depend on the agreed scope of works however will typically include a spatial plan, concept design, all furniture and accessory selections, window treatments if applicable and custom furniture design. (Not all of this might be required?) These items and designs are presented in person for discussion and review, over 2-3 meetings. The final design presentation includes all material finishes, fixtures, furniture selections, fabrics, digital presentation all within the established budget.
It is important to ensure that decision making becomes a high priority to ensure continuous smooth running of the project. Delays will only hamper progress.
At IDI we do not have a signature look because we work with clients to create a space that reflects their personality, style and goals. We are inspired by the vision the client presents to us. Our role as designers is to really unveil and discover the true vision of what our clients want from their home or space and transform it into a living, breathing environment. We want it to feel like it expresses who they are, and be a home or space they truly love.
As part of the design process we create sketches, spatial plans in 2D and an added option is 3D. We present a look and feel digitally to help our clients undertand the concept design. Schedules of all finishes, materials and fixtures selected are presented visually and are available physically as part of our materials board service.

Yes of course, but our role is to ensure you understand what is realistic and can be achieved within your budget. We will assist in making decisions where best to spend or where to prioritise. We will make best possible use of your budget and your space to meet your goals.
As experienced designers, we have developed many relationships over the years with varied contractors, consultatnts and tradespeople. Given the scope of work and budgets we will know who to go to in order to achieve the quality level and meet the deadlines.
For sure! Many clients own furniture, art or accessories which hold sentimental value to them. Great design shows your personality and tells a story and the best way to do this is with pieces that have meaning. That being said, at IDI our role is to create beauty within each space and ensure it is functional and improves the quality of life. We will be honest with our client and communicate what works and what doesn’t.
If you engage IDI to coordinate the purchase management of your design project, we’ll create a detailed proposal that outlines your selections and final costs. This is presented at the final design presentation. Once you approve the purchase proposal, pay the required purchasing fee and product costs, we’ll manage the purchase, payment, delivery and installation of all of your selections. IDI will open doors to the best showrooms and quality workrooms not available to the general public. Your dreams and aspirations for your home or space can become a reality.
We work on a flat fee for our design services (one price per project so there are no surprises!). Design fees are based on the scope of work involved in your project. This fee represents a reasonable assessment of the time and resources it will take to professionally complete your job. IDI is located in Abbotsford Melbourne Victoria. Our services cover clients in the Melbourne Metropolitan area. We may consider clients outside this area, but travel fees apply for distances exceeding 30 kilometres one way. Our portfolio represents work we have completed Australia wide and Internationally.
