PROJECT INFORMATION
BRISBANE - CBD
MERCURE HOTEL - CHELSEA LANE
Once a back of house thoroughfare that was used for a bus and taxi drop-off point, the new premium alfresco outdoor setting venue has been ingeniously created to make use of the space between the Ibis and Mercure Brisbane. The open-air styled venue is prominent to passers-by, creating appeal with living greenery and bamboo planting to ensure a relaxed environment for event-goers to enjoy. General Manager of Mercure Brisbane, Grant Parnell said: “We're delighted to include this chic addition to our function spaces to complement our existing ballroom and provide a larger more energised, ambient and youthful space. We are expecting this to be popular with millennials looking for a unique hip outdoor setting entertainment venue”
In Design International created one-off custom made retro pieces and industrial styled features using rusted metal & timber to add personality to the once dreary driveway. The rusted light board letters illuminate the wall with an element of fun, the honeycomb trellis is complete with climbing vines and garden beds have been reinvigorated with lush palm planting. Practical timber leaning bench seats were an important practical aspect for the everyday breakout opportunities from conferencing in the ballroom.
The spacious new Chelsea Lane design will accommodate up to 120 people and is expected to be sought after for standing cocktail functions, launch parties, fashion parades and local exhibitions.
It is always a delight to see a vision come to fruition! In this case it’s not only a vision but a sensational revenue generating addition to the hotels event operations!
