We were following in the footsteps of a dream created by the late Brian and Kathy Ray, extraordinary developers who were responsible for the Bale Port Douglas resort before their tragic and unexpected death.
Inspired by the culture and aesthetics of Balinese Islands, the open -air gazebo style entertainment space was well planned by developer and architect alike to suit the tropical far north Queensland location of Port Douglas. Needless to say, the “interior” materials, fixtures and fittings all held the same Indonesian influences. Solid teak was a great feature for all the handmade dining tables, chairs and lounge seating. Balinese artists and craftsmen were sought after to complete the developers artistic dream.
